Stovall released by Braves, picked up by Royals

Former Hokes Bluff baseball star Tyler Stovall was released by the Atlanta Braves organization in October 2011.

The left-handed pitcher was picked up by the Kansas City Royals organization three days after being released by the Braves.

Stovall was drafted by Atlanta in 2008 (#64 overall) and pitched for the Rome (Ga.) Braves from 2008-2011. 

Kansas City’s AA affiliate, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, placed Stovall on their roster. 

Stovall consistently delivers his fastball at 93 mph. and is expected to work from the bullpen as a relief pitcher for the Naturals in 2012.

Stovall reports to spring training in Arizona on March 1.
