Bogle paces Bulldogs with pair of silver medals

Sparked by a pair of silver medals by Jackson Bogle, the Gaston High boys track & field team finished eighth out of 24 teams at the Class 1A state meet on May 4-5 in Selma.

Bogle took second place in the shot put with a throw of 45 feet and two inches and the javelin with a toss of 155 feet and four inches. 

Also turning in a fine showing for the Bulldogs was Taylor Prickett, who came in fourth n the 3200-meter run at 10:53.17 and fifth in the 1600-meter run at 4:48.88.

Earning points for Gaston was Albert Douglas (seventh in the 200-meter dash), the fifth-place 3200-meter relay team (9:18.42), Jacob Johnson (eighth in both the 1600-meter run and 3200-meter run) and the eighth-place 400-meter relay and 1600-meter relay teams.

The Gaston girls came in 17th place. 

The Lady Bulldogs’ lone medalist was Tanna Lawson, who took the third-place bronze with a toss of 98 feet. Just missing our on a medal was the school’s 4×100-meter relay team of Brittany Pollard, Brittany Clay, Darby Samples and Kentara Blackwell, which came in fourth with a time of 54.23 seconds. 

Also gaining points was the 3200-meter relay team of Destiny Allen, Leslie Hall, Lindy Oliver and Arionna Collins, which posted a seventh-place finish.
