The senior citizens surprised Tom Collins, who was 90 years young on October 14. His daughter brought his cake then left the rest up to the ladies. And boy, the senior ladies know how to throw a party.

We sang “Happy Birthday” to Tom and he was really surprised. Later, Jackie Coker gave us a big surprise. Jackie brought Sue in to help us celebrate Tom’s birthday. Sue has been very sick, but we saw for ourselves that she is doing very well in her recovery.

On Wednesday, October 24, our seniors went to Crow Mountain to the apple farm to get some apples, plus had lots of fun on the bus as we spent the day.

On Halloween, we are having a party. There will be a competition between the seniors and the recreation center employees to see who decorates the best window.

Also, there will be a contest for the most original Halloween costume. Talk about fun! This has been a month of fun!

On October 16, Rick’s Drugs in Attalla came to give flu shots.

If you need to get out of the house, come and join the senior program on nutrition. We have many different things for you to enjoy.

Surprise Baby Shower
The Recreation Center gave their secretary, Jackie Chandler, a surprise baby shower on Wed, October 17.

I had just finished my walk and was going to leave when I was asked to stay. I did and I enjoyed it very much. Jackie’s baby boy is due on October 23. Good luck to you, Jackie, and your baby boy.
