Although Glencoe is tied with Weaver and Susan Moore for third place in Class 3A, Region 5, the Yellow Jackets probably has a playoff spot sewn up.

However, Glencoe coach Lee Ozmint isn’t worried about two weeks from now – he’s worried about this game.

“I’m not concerned at all about the playoffs, at this point,” he said. “I just want us to show some improvement and play a good football game.”

Last week against the Bulldogs, the same problems that have been there for most of the season haunted Glencoe.

“These kids are giving great effort,” Ozmint said. “But there are too many mental mistakes. We’ll have a good drive halted by a fumble or dropped pass or something.

“If we can get all of that straightened out, we can play a good football game – and that’s my goal before the season ends.”

This week, an Ashville team with a much-improved defense will be trying for the upset.

“Their offense has been athletic and good for a long time,” Ozmint said. “Their defense has shown a ton of improvement this year and the whole team has played well down the stretch.

“They’ve had some of the same problems we have with the mental mistakes.”

Last week against Susan Moore, Thomas Ozmint rushed for 97 yards on 15 carries.

Daniel Otwell ran seven times for 57 yards and caught six passes for 86 yards.

Hunter Nunnally was 15-for-25 in passing with 148 yards.

Houston Word led in tackles with 11, followed by Pace Ozmint and Mason Brown with six each.
