After last week’s loss to Florence High, Gadsden City isn’t too worried about the opposition.

That is to say, that the Titans are focusing on themselves and trying to improve on the fundamentals.

“We’re pretty much focusing on us,” Gadsden City coach Matt Scott said. “We’re concentrating on ball security and blocking. We gave up too many loose balls and we didn’t block well on the perimeter.

“We should’ve worried more about ourselves last week. If we had, we might’ve won that game.”

One thing that may help in this week’s matchup is the fact that Lee uses basically the same defense that the Titans utilize.

“We’ve been practicing against our regular defense this week,” Scott said. “We haven’t had to worry too much about scout team defense.”

In last week’s win over Columbia, the Generals were led by quarterback Cameron Thomas, who rushed for 120 yards on 12 carries and two rushing touchdowns. He also completed 7 of 15 passes for 114 yards and one touchdown.

“He’s a good quarterback who can get the job done,” Scott said of Thomas. “But we got a dose of a good quarterback last week and didn’t panic.”

Florence quarterback Kendrick Doss, an Ole Miss commitment, had over 200 yards of all-purpose offense against the Titans.

Last week against Florence, Jay Copeland completed 4-of-11 passes for 58 yards.

Backup quarterback Ahmad DeRamus completed 4-of-10 passes for 50 yards.

Dante Rudolph rushed for a team-high 51 yards on eight carries, while Gabriel Ford had 50 yards rushing on seven attempts.
