Normally, White Plains can be counted on to be a Class 3A, Region 6 patsy.

Not so much this year.

“They’re much improved,” Glencoe coach Lee Ozmint said. “They’ve got a couple of very good running backs in (Johnny) Bynum and (Roderick) Young. Bynum is quick and Young is big, strong and fast.

“Their quarterback (Joseph Dothard) is a good player and they’ve got a huge line.”

Glencoe goes in on a two-game losing streak, but Ozmint is pleased with his team’s performances.

“We gave a much better effort (against Piedmont),” he said. “We were in a ballgame until the second half when their depth got to us. That’s when they started making big plays.”

With White Plains not as much of a big-play threat as Piedmont, depth may not play as big a factor.

Last week against Piedmont, Dylan Stone completed 5-of-20 passes for 124 yards while rushing 13 times for 104 yards and a touchdown.

Mason Brown had 16 tackles, followed by Pace Ozmint with eight and Houston Word with seven.
