After seeing improvement in his team each week, Gadsden City High coach Matt Scott was disappointed in last week’s performance, saying there might’ve even been a step backward.

Three turnovers, combined with a couple of miscues in the kicking game, kept the Titans facing long fields all evening.

“I was disappointed, the coaches were disappointed and the players were disappointed,” Titans coach Matt Scott said. “We’ve got to go out this week and use that to rebound. Especially against a team as good as Clay – or we’ll get blown out.”

Class 6A, No. 2 Clay comes in with something that Gadsden City hasn’t really seen this year – a totally balanced offense.

“Their quarterback can run and throw really well,” Scott said. “Then they’ve got good running backs and good receivers.

“They’re one of the best teams we’ll see all year, no doubt. We’re going to have to watch the runners and the passing game or they’ll burn us.”

Gadsden City currently resides in fifth place in the region standings. Clay-Chalkville occupies the top spot, with Oxford, Pell City and Huntsville all knotted a game behind at 3-1.
