GCHS Chorale show scheduled for Dec. 16

Gadsden City High School’s Titan Chorale will be giving a Christmas concert Dec. 16. The show will begin at 7 p.m. at Rainbow Presbyterian Church (3220 Rainbow Drive), and admission is free.
According to Gina Garmon, one of the choir’s directors, the Titan Chorale is a smaller ensemble formed by students from the school’s concert choir. These students audition to be part of the Titan Chorale.
“These kids either come to practice before school, at 7:30 a.m., or stay after school, so they are very dedicated,” said Garmon.
The Chorale students volunteer extra time in addition to their regular classwork, choir practices, and other extracurricular activities in order to rehearse and perform at various events.
Garmon and the Chorale’s other director, Lana Cornutt, have been working with the Gadsden City High School choir since the school opened in 2007. They have been touched by the Titan Chorale students’ willingness to give up their free time to benefit their school, their fellow students, and their community.
“This is just a phenomenal group of young adults who love music, work really hard, and are extremely talented,” said Garmon.
The Christmas concert will consist of a series of yuletide evensong, music, and narration.
The Chorale will be performing many familiar Christmas carols, hymns, and well-known holiday songs.
Garmon said the show will feature something for everyone, and will be an enjoyable performance for all ages.
Gadsden City High School’s Supervisor of Fine Arts is Paul Edmondson. Its principal is Keith Blackwell.
Although admission will not be charged, donations will be accepted at Monday night’s concert.
