New Year’s Day tradition continues

Once again we spent New Year’s Day bringing in the new year with friends and family at my daughter’s home. Around 20 people gathered to enjoy the traditional black-eyed peas and collards along with a bounty of delicious food. There were the regular attendees and some new ones, some have gone on to be with Jesus and then some just couldn’t make it, but we had a great time of fellowship.

This is a tradition that began years ago at my house and about ten years ago we moved it to my daughter, Kathy Jones’, home. What a way to start the new year! It was good to see my friend Ernestine’s daughter, Donna Steed, who is the Postmaster in Cherokee County. She and Kathy started to private first grade together with Mrs. Goss in 1965.

A special thanks to my other “daughters,” Sherry Arrington and Ramonda Turner for helping Kathy with the cooking and cleaning up. You both are treasures!

I pray that 2014 bring us all good health and lots of happiness.

Happy New Year to you all!
