James is the latest addition to our family. He is a foreign exchange student from Bangkok, Thailand.
My daughter and her family, Kathy, Ferrell and Noah Jones, welcomed James into their home back in September.
I think he was in culture shock coming from a big city of 8 million to a little town of 5000.
His laid-back attitude fits right in with the slower pace here.
James is enjoying his time here in the U.S. In November, they took a trip to Gatlinburg for a few days. They rode through Cades Cove and took a hike to Abram Falls, rode go-carts, shopped and ate some good food.
Just last week, James had the opportunity to take a ride in a L-39 Albatross Fighter Jet. It was an amazing experience that he will not soon forget.
He also had the opportunity to go to the Atlanta Hawks NBA game and went to the BBVA Compass Bowl in Birmingham.
In February, he will go to Disney World with a group of other foreign exchange students. Kathy and Noah will also get to go. Also, James will be traveling to Boston, New York City and Washington, D.C. in April.
James is going to Westbrook and is in the 10th grade. He enjoys going to the Cathedral of Praise with his family.
Unfortunately, he will have to go back home in June. Kathy is already trying to find a way to get him back, and she will do all she can to make it happen!
Until then, we will treasure our time with our latest addition, James Jones.
