My friend Ernestine and I have been friends for almost 50 years. We first met when our daughters were in first grade. When both our husbands died in 2007 we really became close friends. It was almost a daily thing for us to meet at Hardee’s and talk with all the girls and then go gallivanting around town.
Ernestine recently remarried, and our gallivanting days are not as much as they used to be, but this past Saturday we got a chance to get out and about like we used to. We rode to Guntersville and shopped around and then made a stop at the Lion’s Den in Sardis for a bite to eat.
Later on that afternoon, Ernestine and her husband, Kenneth, picked me up and went to Fultondale to visit his sister. Of course, we made a few stops along the way… to Sam’s in Trussville and America’s Thrift Store in Center Point. We passed places I had heard of but never seen before!
After we left his sister’s house we went through Blount County where Kenneth was raised. We went on to Oneonta and ate supper. It was late when we got home, but we had a great time. It sure is wonderful to have such good friends to spend time with.
Thanks Ernestine and Kenneth for a fun-filled day!
