Jimmy Bogle wants to accomplish something no American has ever done – complete the obstacle course on the NBC television show, “American Ninja Warrior.”

“Two Japanese have completed the course,” Bogle said. “But so far, no American has made it that far.”

The course is set up to test the agility, upper body strength, grip strength, etc., of the contestants, who have to be approved after sending in an application, complete with video.

Bogle, a 2005 graduate of Gaston High, submitted a video, with voiceover, of him completing a course similar to the ones on the show.

“I have friends in Nashville and Atlanta who have similar courses, and I’ve used them for training,” Bogle said. “My submission video showed me working on those courses.”

Bogle leaves Thursday (March 27) for San Antonio, Tex., where he will train on another course owned by Brent Steffenson, the American who has, thus far, come closest to finishing the television course.

On March 31, Bogle will be in Dallas to compete on a show that will air in late May or early June.

Bogle, whose submission video is viewable on youtube, was a three-time All-Etowah County selection in basketball.
