Public Hearing Notice

The Etowah County Commission is applying to the Alabama Department of Transportation for an administrative, operating and capital assistance grant under 49 U.S.C. Section 5311 of the Federal Transit Laws, as codified. The operating grant will provide financial assistance for public transportation service for the residents of Etowah County, during FY 2014.  The service currently operates Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; all residents, including wheelchair users, must schedule service 24 hours in advance.  Fares are $6.00  trip;  children under 5 rides free.  

Copies of the detailed service description, proposed changes, and project budget may be obtained at the transit system office, Etowah County Rural Transportation  between 8 a.m. -4:30 p.m.

A public hearing will be held on May 29, 2014 at 9am in the County Commission Chambers, 1st floor at the Etowah County Courthouse  for public comment.
