Dr. Roger Alan, DDS and staff celebrated its 15-year anniversary on Wednesday, July 16, with an open house and refreshments.
Alan has been serving the Gadsden area since he began practicing prosthodontics in 1999, when he opened his South 4th Street location.
There, he serves as a full-service dental clinic offering prosthodontics and regular dental work.
As a prosthodontist, Alan specializes in redesigning the mouth for people who have congenital defects, mouth cancer, have been in auto accidents or have neglected their teeth.
“I rebuild the ability to function,” Alan said.
He also fills teeth and does anything a regular dentist does. His staff also does teeth cleaning.
Alan has three full-time staff members, Deesha Wolfe, office manager, Rachel Mardis, hygienist, and Taylor Chandler, Dr. Alan’s assistant.
“I’m thankful that we can offer the specialty of prosthodontics to the Gadsden area, because there is less than 25 dentists who offer it in the state of Alabama; 20 of those are at the dental school. We serve people from all over the Southeast; as far away as Trussville routinely.”
The Gadsden-Etowah Chamber of Commerce held the open house from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
Office Manager Deesha Wolfe cut the anniversary cake with none other than dental floss, marking each section exactly where guests could cut off a piece.
“It’s an easy way to cut a cake, we don’t just do it here at the office” Wolfe said, adding, “It’s a lot easier with a smaller cake.”
Alan’s parents, Roger and Shirley Alan, attended the open house.
“We’re very proud of him. He’s a wonderful son and he’s really good to me and his daddy,” said Alan’s mother.
Alan’s aunts Frances and Gail Alan, among other family and friends attended the event.
