This year, local McDonald’s locations are doing something a little different for its new year resolution. Every Monday, the six Etowah County locations are hosting Coffee for a Cause.

Every Monday, Coffee for a Cause takes 50 percent of the sales from brewed hot or iced coffee and donates the money to a local non-profit organization. Each month the money will go to a different worthy cause in the Etowah County area.

In January, the money raised went to the Boys and Girls Club of Gadsden and Etowah County.

The Boys and Girls Club of Gadsden and Etowah County is an afterschool and summer program for kids ages 6-16. According to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, it tries “to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.”

Over $1500 was raised to be donated to the Boys and Girls Club.

In February, the money will de donated to The Love Center.

The Love Center has been providing homeless single women, couples and families with children with long-term housing and meals since its creation in 1982. In 2015 the shelter provided for 144 people in need.

In March, the money raised will be donated to the Humane Society Pet Rescue and Adoption Center in Gadsden. Since 1973, the animal shelter has served the community by taking in stray or unwanted animals and attempting to rehome them.

In April, Coffee for a Cause monies will go to the Gadsden Etowah Patriots Association. The money will go towards the association’s project to bring a traveling Vietnam Wall exhibit to Gadsden.

More causes will be announced throughout the year.

The six Etowah County McDonald’s locations are all locally owned by Content and Rusty Hamilton with their son Andrew.

Because the family is local and active in the community, they decided to give back to the community by supporting deserving local charitable organizations with Coffee for a Cause.

To support these causes, get McDonald’s coffee any Monday in 2017!
