ASWA releases All-State softball team
Three area players were named to the 2012 Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State softball teams.
Glencoe’s Jamie McGuire and West End’s Courtney Oliver were given first team honors, while Sardis’ Kameron Carter was given honorable mention.

Glencoe High School and West End High School placed a total of 11 players on the 2012 All-Messenger softball team.
Glencoe pitcher Jordan Sims and West End pitcher Morgan Cleveland shared Most Valuable Player honors, while Glencoe catcher Jamie McGuire was named Most Valuable Offensive Player.
Glencoe finished the season with a 34-12 record. The Lady Yellow Jackets won

Glencoe High School’s varsity girls softball team begins its quest for the Class 3A crown this weekend when it travels to Vestavia Hills to compete in the North Central Regional Tournament.
The tournament features five ranked teams. Top-ranked White Plains, Fourth-ranked Glencoe, fifth-ranked Winfield, seventh-ranked Saks and eighth-ranked Susan Moore will tangle for a spot in the state…

West End High School’s varsity girls softball team travels to Huntsville this weekend to compete in the Class 2A North Regional Tournament at the Metro Softball Complex.
The seventh-ranked Lady Patriots face Westminister Christian High School in first-round action.
The North Regional tournament consists of some of the top softball teams in Class 2A.
