Coosa hurler signs with Miles

Coosa Christian High School senior pitcher Hunter Wood signed a baseball scholarship to Miles College during a ceremony at the high school’s band room at noon on May 29.
The hard-throwing Wood joins former Coosa battery mate Justin Langdale, who signed with Miles College at the end of last season.

Emma Sansom alumnus takes Ashville grid job

Emma Sansom High School graduate Mark O’Bryant was recently named head varsity football coach at Ashville High School.

Glencoe, West End pace annual All-Messenger softball team

Glencoe High School and West End High School placed a total of 11 players on the 2012 All-Messenger softball team.
Glencoe pitcher Jordan Sims and West End pitcher Morgan Cleveland shared Most Valuable Player honors, while Glencoe catcher Jamie McGuire was named Most Valuable Offensive Player.
