Gadsden City rally falls short at Bob Jones

Gadsden City made a brief stop in the Class 6A state playoffs last Friday (Nov. 9) in Madison, suffering a 35-30 defeat at the hands of Bob Jones.

Geraldine blanks Yellow Jackets

Glencoe produced less than 100 yards of total offense and was intercepted six times as Geraldine downed the visiting Yellow Jackets, 14-0, in the first round of the Class 3A state high school football playoffs last Friday (Nov. 9).

The Geraldine defense allowed 47 yards rushing on 22 attempts and 39 yards passing.

Red Bay overcomes sloppy start to defeat Warriors

Red Bay withstood three early turnovers deep in its own territory to defeat Westbrook Christian, 14-7, in the opening round of the Class 2A state playoffs last Friday (Nov. 9).

The Tigers (8-3) travel to Woodland for a second round game this week.

Lions lose to Lincoln in shootout

A terrific night by the Sardis offense was offset by a Lion defensive unit that couldn’t stop Lincoln last Friday (Nov. 9).

The host Golden Bears built a 14-0 halftime advantage and withstood Sardis’ second-half aerial assault in a 49-34 triumph in the opening round of the Class 4A state playoffs.
