Setting legislative goals for 2013

As legislators prepare to return to Montgomery on Feb. 5, we have to determine what issues will be our priorities in the coming legislative session. In the coming weeks, House Democrats will announce our official legislative agenda for the year. But today, I’d like to discuss what the legislature’s top priorities should be when we return to the capitol.

Honoring MLK Jr. with highway designation

The Gadsden City Council passed a resolution on Jan. 15 to designate U.S. 431 within the Gadsden City limits as Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Parkway.

The council resolution will go the local legislative delegation for consideration.

Glencoe battled back from an early deficit to post a 45-37 victory over Sardis on Monday (Jan. 18) in the Etowah County Schools girls basketball tournament quarterfinals at Gadsden State.
