Alabama Week 4 recap

Coach Wendell Hudson and the Alabama women’s team split a pair of games last week, including a 61-51 victory over archrival Auburn last Thursday (Jan. 24). The Crimson Tide lost a home game to Vanderbilt last Sunday (Jan. 27), dropping to 12-8 overall and 2-5 in the Southeastern Conference. Alabama plays Florida on Sunday (Feb. 3)

Jackets sting Bluffers

Local basketball fans who witnessed the Glencoe and Hokes Bluff boys basketball game last Tuesday (Jan. 29) certainly got their money’s worth.

Anthony Morris’ 3-point basket with two seconds remaining in the second overtime propelled the visiting Yellow Jackets to a 55-52 win.

It took Hokes Bluff about six minutes to get going against Glencoe last Tuesday (Jan. 29), the Lady Eagles delivered a knockout punch after they woke up en route to a 55-44 win.

After the Class 3A No. 10 Lady Yellow Jackets (17-9) built a quick 9-0 lead, Katy Alford started putting up 3-pointers for the hosts.
