Several local Christmas parades on tap for weekend, next week

Christmas Parade season gets into step this weekend with several marches making their way through local towns. The Altoona Christmas Parade may be Etowah County’s first of the season, happening tonight (Dec. 6) at 7 p.m. and it is definitely one of the biggest.

Help needed for sweet potato drop Saturday

The Society of St. Andrew needs help to bag 40,000 pounds of sweet potatoes on Saturday (Dec. 7).
The society will bring a truck load of sweet potatoes and drop them at the Salvation Army, at 114 North 11th St. in Gadsden at 9 a.m. The potatoes will need to be bagged for distribution.
