Non-profit gives AED unit, first-aid kit to Parks and Rec
The City of Gadsden’s Parks and Recreation Department is one of several to benefit form a Birmingham physicians’ concern over the safety of those participating and attending youth sports activities.
The National Center for Sports Safety is giving 11 Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) and fully stocked emergency first aid kits to parks and recreation centers across the State of Alabama.

AHSAA Central Board creates Class 7A
The Alabama High School Athletic Association Central Board of Control unanimously approved Wednesday a new seven-classification system for championship play beginning with the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years. The seven-class system is being adopted for all sports.
The action came during the central board’s winter meeting in Montgomery.
Conducted every two years, re-classification is based on average daily enrollment

A total of 21 local players recently were selected to the Class 5A, All-Region 7 high school football team.
