Southside’s Ryals finishes fifth at national wrestling tournament

Haden Ryals recently te-sted his wrestling skills on the national level.
The Southside High School senior took fifth place in the National High School Coaches Association Tournament on Mar. 28-30 at Virginia Beach, Va.
Ryals, who won a fourth straight Alabama High School Athletic Association championship in February, competed in a field of 51 top wrestlers

Blue vests and big smiles filled Ed Teague Arena today as more than 150 young people competed in the Alabama Junior Beef Exposition Showmanship Contest.

Nancy Cunningham honored
The Attalla Junior/Norris High Foundation Inc. honored Nancy Gibbs Cunningham as its 2014 Hero of the Year during the organization’s banquet.
Cunningham received a proclamation from City of Attalla Mayor Larry Means a resolution from the foundation, presented by president Rev. Preston Nix.
“Mrs. Cunningham was a great teacher, mentor and graceful person that loves people,” Nix said.
