Etowah Commission to hold evening meetings

The Etowah County Commission is conducting a test.
The commission voted last week to change one meeting time a month during the months of May and June to late afternoon or evening.
Ordinarily, the commission meets at 10 a.m. on the first and third Tuesday of the month, with a work session conducted at 9 a.m. every week.

GRMC names Volunteer of the Year
Betty Sue Owen, who volunteers on the first floor information desk at Gadsden Regional Medical Center, has been named the hospital’s Volunteer of the Year. Owen received the honor during GRMC’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet on April 10. She served 225 hours during 2013 and has earned more than 3,000 volunteer hours during her tenure at the hospital.
