Hallmark resigns as Patriot coach

The search continues for a new head football coach at West End High School.

The Etowah County Board of Education accepted Randy Hallmark’s resignation as head football coach and assistant principal at its April meeting.

Hallmark posted a 1-19 record in the 2012 and 2013 seasons. It was his second stint at Walnut Grove.

The Tigers lost two out of three games at Kentucky, including a heartbreaking 6-5 loss in the series finale. Westbrook Christian boys tie for 2nd, girls take 3rd at state golf tournaments

Westbrook Christian’s Ali Porter tied for the state title at the Class 1A-5A girls state high school  golf tournament on Monday and Tuesday in Prattville.

Porter and Alexandria’ Jordan Gregoria both finished with an overall score of 151. Porter was Tuesday’s low medalist with a two-over par 74 score.

Westbrook cager Edwards signs with Troy

After several years as a high school basketball standout, Colin Edwards is taking his cage skills to the Division I level.

On Monday (May 12), the Westbrook Christian senior signed a scholarship with Troy University.

In his four years as a starter, Edwards helped the Warriors to three Northeast Regional Tournament appearances. Edwards was named to the Class 2A

The Southside High senior signed a baseball scholarship with Calhoun Community College on Tuesday (May 13).

Kyle Mann’s hard work on the basketball court and in the classroom paid off handsomely on Monday (May 12).

The Southside High senior signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Division III Centre College in Danville, Ky.

The Panthers’ starting point guard since his freshman year, Mann last season averaged 9.0 points, 4.6 assists

Panthers’ Mullinax inks with Montevallo

Now you can add Drew Mullinax’s name to the list, after the Panther senior signed a letter-of-intent Thursday to play at the University of Montevallo.
