District 1 Etowah County Commissioner Joey Statum won his re-election by over a thousand votes, unofficially.

Republican Statum was up against Democrat Jeff Ingram for the seat.

Statum received approximately 60 percent of the votes.

Statum takes his re-election as a sign that he is doing something right.

During his last term, Statum has worked with the other commissioners to balance the budget and acquire funds to fix roads and bridges.

Statum hopes to continue to improve Etowah County.

Michael Head won the Etowah County Coroner’s race.

Head has worked at the coroner’s office as deputy coroner for 15 years and advertised his experience to win the race. He won the race with 68 percent of the votes.

Head’s experience also gives him a pre-existing relationship with other nearby coroners.

Head will replace Michael Gladden, who ran for State Representative of District 29 this election.
