Participate in Power to Play, support Southside football team

The Messenger is helping the National Center for Sports Safety and the Alabama Power Foundation host Power to Friday Night contest for the Southside vs. St. Clair County high school football game on Sept. 25 in Odenville. 

Support Southside High at the game and afterwards with Power to Friday Night. To participate, simply upload a “Power Play” video or picture to Instagram using #powertopanthers. 

Power Play photos and videos are taken on game day, and relate to the game. A field play, cheerleading routine, band members or even cheering fans at the game are considered Power Plays.

Power plays can be posted during or after the Southside/St. Clair Coun-ty game on Sept. 25. The deadline for posting is Sunday, Sept. 27 at 12 p.m. 

After the submissions are in, the five Power Plays from each school with the most “likes” will be placed on The Messenger’s website at Voting will then begin for the top Power to Friday Night school. Voting begins Monday, Sept. 28 at 12 p.m. and will end Friday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m.

The winning school will receive a $1,000 donation from the National Center for Sports Safety and the Alabama Power Foundation. To find out the winner, visit The Messenger website at or facebook page on Monday, Oct. 5. These rules are also on display on The Messenger website.
