Glencoe hires Hokes Bluff grad Davis as football coach

Welcome home, Russell “Rusty” Davis.
At Thursday’s special called meeting of the Etowah County Board of Education, Davis was confirmed as the new head football coach at Glencoe High.
A 1985 graduate of Hokes Bluff, Davis has spent the last 24 years in various assistant coaching jobs at Smiths Station – a Class 7A school
Hokes Bluff girls, Southside boys advance to county tournament championship

The Etowah Baptist Mission Center has worked to help meet every citizen’s needs.
The center provides food via the food pantry, where volunteers bag up the appropriate food for the family. During the holidays the center also provides food baskets filled with all the makings for a traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner.

Ladies Auxiliary to host rummage sale fundraiser

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus will host its annual rummage sale on Saturday, January 30 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Seton Hall of St. James Catholic Church located at 622 Chestnut Street in Gadsden.
The sale is one of the organization’s biggest fundraisers. The money raised stays in Etowah County
