The Faith Worship Center in Glencoe will host a Fall Festival on Saturday, October 29 at 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event is free to attend.
“This will be the first time we have done an event of this magnitude,” said The Faith Worship Center Pastor Mark Gidley.
If it goes well, the church hopes to make it an annual event.
Gidley says that the community response so far has been supportive. The church is expecting more than 40 vendors to attend the event.
Vendors will bring a huge variety of fair foods including chili, soups, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, pizza, corn dogs, shaved ice and Italian ice. Art and craft booths will be offering hand-crafted items including t-shirts, jewelry, candles, woodcrafting and furniture.
Entertainment will be provided by Carl Brady from TV24 and Starpower Performing Arts. There may be additional performers, as well. There will also be a car show featuring street rods and antique cars.
For the children, there will be a play area featuring inflatables, horse rides and a hay ride.
The Faith Worship Center has several goals for the event. One goal is to raise funds for the church. The primary goal, Gidley said, is to connect with the community. One way they are hoping to connect is through a prayer tent, where community and church members may pray together.
“It will be the place to be,” said Gidley. “There will be something for everyone.”
Gidley also emphasized that the event will be very family friendly with a “safe, peaceful environment.
