Second-ranked Hokes Bluff thumps Oneonta

Darrian Meads rushed for 204 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries in No. 2 Hokes Bluff’s 49-7 victory over Oneonta in Class 4A, Region 6 action on Sept. 14 at Hokes Bluff.
Meads found the end zone three times in the first two quarters as the No. 2 Eagles (3-0, 2-0) rolled to a 35-0 lead at halftime.
Ashton Gulledge threw for a touchdown and ran for another. Carson Eubanks recovered a fumble, intercepted a pass and caught a touchdown pass.
A 1-yard scoring run by Gulledge and touchdown runs of 5 and 85 yards by Meads staked the Hokes Bluff to a 21-0 lead after one quarter.
In the second period, Gulledge and Carson Eubanks connected for a 21-yard TD, while Meads’ 22-yard scoring run provide the Eagles with a 35-0 advantage at halftime.
Meads’ 22-yard touchdowns and a 1-yard scoring run by Tucker Griffin in the third quarter closed out the scoring for the Eagles.
Ethan Whitcomb was 7-for-7 in extra points.
Gulledge was 5 for 6 in passing for 58 yards and rushed eight times for 91 yards. Eubanks and Braydon Hill each had two receptions.
Will Clemons had 10 tackles, followed by Hunter Burke with eight and Hill with five.
Hokes Bluff continues region play this Friday (Sept. 21) with a visit to Anniston.
