A pair of local high school football players were nominated for the Alabama Sports Writers Association Offensive Player of the Week honors for Week 4 of the season.
Gadsden City senior Chris Lawrence rushed 15 times for 214 yards and two touchdowns in Gadsden City’s 35-7 win over Albertville.
Sardis junior quarterback Will Scott completed 16 of 18 passes for 300 yards in a 42-28 win over Douglas. Scott passed for one touchdown and ran for another in the Lions’ third straight win.
