Local volleyball roundup: Glencoe undefeated in area play

Glencoe improved to 14-9 overall and 3-0 in Class 3A Area 12 play with a tri-match sweep over Piedmont (25-21. 25-14, 25-16) and Sardis (25-20, 16-25, 15-12) on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Hokes Bluff defeated West End, 16-25, 25-13, 15-9 on Thursday, Sept. 19. For the Lady Eagles, Addison Simmons had 15 kills, followed by Mazely Ball with nine, Chloe Dodd with eight, Makenna Bennich with seven and Sophia Jackson with six.
Mary Davenport distributed 25 assists, while Ball dealt out 10.
Simmons came up with 20 digs, followed by Kenley Staats with 17 and Haylen Marbut with 12.

Westbrook Christian split a tri-match on Thursday, Sept 19, defeating Donoho, 11-25, 25-18, 15-10) and losing to Southside, 22-25, 18-25). For the Class 3A No. 4 Lady Warriors (23-4, 1-3), Raylee Neal had 34 assists, seven digs and two aces; Marley Cox had 14 digs and 11 kills; Kylee Wyatt had 21 digs; Addi Hammontree had 11 kills and two blocks; Landri Lipscomb had eight kills and two aces; Elyse Neal had eight digs and two aces; and Lilly Ford had five kills.

Glencoe swept, 25-16, 25-22, 25-19, in a Class 3A Area 12 match on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Glencoe. For the Lady Yellow Jackets, Evelyn Nowak had 14 kills, followed by Alli Jo Amos and Mia Talbot with 10 each, Ashlyn Stone with seven and Mille Chambless and Sadie Waldrop with two each. Avery Barkley distributed 23 assists, while Kinlee Montgomery dished out 14. Barkley also had two service aces and Chambless had two blocks.
Kaelyn Hollis came up with 24 digs, followed by Peyton Gray with 14, Montgomery and Gracyn Bunt with eight each, Barkley and Nowak with six each and Amos, Stone and Talbot with four each.
For the Lady Warriors, Marley Cox had 11 kills, followed by Landri Lipscomb and Raylee Neal with five each. Raylee Neal also had 16 assists, Elyse Neal had two service aces and Lipscomb had three blocks.
Cox and Kylee Wyatt each had 15 digs, followed by Elyse Neal with 11 and Raylee Neal with nine.

Westbrook Christian split a tri-match on Tuesday, Sept. 17, beating Ashville, 25-22, 25-16 and losing Area 12 rival Ohatchee, 14-25, 25-20, 25-19, 14-25, 9-15 in Rainbow City. For the Lady Warriors, Raylee Neal had 49 kills, 24 digs and three kills; Marley Cox had 27 digs and 15 kills; Landri Lipscomb had 17 kills, seven digs and two blocks; Addi Hammontree had 14 kills, five digs and two aces; Kylee Wyatt had 22 digs and six aces; and Caroline Taylor had eight kills.
