The Rev. Z. Andre’ Huff is seeking another term representing District 3 on the Gadsden City Board of Education, citing his commitment to educational excellence, servant leadership and community advocacy.
Huff, an educator, pastor, author and community leader, was appointed to the school board in 2017 by then-Gadsden City Councilman Thomas Worthy. Later that year, when the school board transitioned from an appointed body to an elected one, Huff won election to continue serving District 3.
As a member of the first elected Gadsden City Board of Education, Huff was selected by fellow board members to serve as chairman during the board’s first two years under the new governance structure.
During his tenure, Huff said he has focused on expanding educational opportunities, promoting accountability, supporting teachers and staff, and ensuring students have the resources needed to succeed. He said he remains committed to advocating for District 3 while supporting policies that prepare students for success both academically and beyond the classroom.
In addition to his work in education, Huff has served in ministry for more than 30 years. He was senior pastor of Morning Star Baptist Church from 1997 to 2013 and has served as senior pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church since 2013. His ministry emphasizes biblical teaching, discipleship, family development and community service.
Huff is the son of Mrs. Kattie Huff and the late Rev. F.L. Huff and is the fourth of six sons.
He is also the author of the devotional book Suit Up!, which offers practical biblical principles for daily living, and co-hosts the community podcast Real Talk with Pastor Z. & Bishop T., where discussions focus on faith, education, leadership and issues affecting the Gadsden community.
Huff said his approach to public service is rooted in the belief that leadership is demonstrated through service, integrity and a commitment to improving the lives of others through education, ministry and community engagement.
