Facing murderers’ row for six weeks in a row, Coosa Christian can’t catch a break.

Gaylesville visits Mosquito Alley tonight (Sept. 27).

“(The Trojans) were picked by most to win the region before the season started,” Coosa coach Scott Clifton said. “Before Valley Head showed up and surprised a lot of folks, Gaylesville was regarded as a shoo-in for the region title.”

The Trojans are still playing for playoff consideration and Coosa could put itself into position to sneak into the postseason with a win this week.

After a good showing against Cedar Bluff in Week 3, the Conquerors took a step back against Spring Garden.

“We ran a trick play on the first play of the game,” Clifton said. “The receiver was open but the ball was overthrown and it was like the air went out of us. We went three-and-out and they (Spring Garden) drove the length of the field to score.

“Then, we botched the kickoff and they grabbed it and scored.

“That put us down two touchdowns and we never recovered.”

Ben Mills scored the Conquerors’ lone touchdown last week.
