Westbrook finds itself in a must-win situation, as far as the postseason is concerned.

Should the Warriors win, they will be the No. 2 seed in Class 2A, Region 7 and host a playoff game. A loss drops Westbrook into a three-way tie and plummets the Rainbow City squad to fifth when all the dominoes fall.

“I’m glad to have something to play for in the ninth week of the season,” Warriors coach Tony Osborne said. “It makes it easier to motivate the kids, and we know the community will be excited and behind us.”

North Sand Mountain comes in with a running game that is based out of the spread formation. The Bison have several good runners, so Osborne is focusing on that aspect with the defense.

“If we can stop their run and force them to throw, we will be in good shape,” he said. “They can throw the ball but not as well as they can run it.”

As for the Warriors, they’re “very healthy for this time of the year.”

“We’re still getting better,” Osborne said. “If we can win this one and get in the playoffs, …”

Last week against Section, Will Appleton completed 15-of-31 passes for 252 yards and four touchdowns, while Noah Hunt caught five catches for 140 yards and three scores.
