Lions come up short at Saks

Courtesy of Anniston Star

Saks defeated Sardis, 34-7, on Friday in Anniston.

On Sardis’ opening drive, quarterback Logan Gaskin flipped the ball out to Jesse Hubbard, who picked up 53 yards down to Saks’ 12-yard line, highlighting a drive that ended with a missed field-goal attempt.

The Wildcats weren’t so lucky the next time the Lions got the football.

Gaskin lofted a deep pass Austin Hallmark’s way, and despite tight pass coverage from Darion Coleman, Hallmark came down with the ball and raced 70 yards to the end zone.

The Saks defense allowed Sardis to pick up only 11 yards after the first quarter.

Sardis (1-1, 0-1) resumes region play next week at home against Jacksonville.
