Westbrook Christian High goes into this week’s Etowah County rivalry game with the backup quarterback – Justis Glassford – making his first start.

The starting quarterback – sophomore Will Appleton – broke his collarbone against Ohatchee.

“Justis didn’t get much opportunity in our first game,” Warrior coach Tony Osborne said. “So the Ohatchee game was kind of his breaking-in game. We’ll see this week how he can do.”

Glencoe, meanwhile, is healthy and playing very well. The Yellow Jackets pulled victory out of the hat in both of their first two games.

“We’ve got to keep doing what we’ve been doing,” Glencoe coach Lee Ozmint said. “We need to get more consistency so we’re not having to come from behind.”

That come-from-behind capability has really impressed Osborne.

“Their resiliency is something else,” he said. “Their defense always impresses me but their offense is better this year than last. They’ve just got a really good team.”

The Westbrook offense shines, according to Ozmint.

“Their skill players can run anywhere,” he said. “They can run up the middle and they can break it outside. And they’ve got a quick defense. Overall, they’re just a good team.”

For Glencoe last week, Thomas Ozmint rushed 19 times for 187 yards, and caught two passes for 70 yards.

Dylan Stone was 11-for-20 in passing for 176 yards, while Pace Ozmint had five receptions for 77 yards.

Mason Brown had 13 tackles, followed by Chance Duncan with 11, Taylor Daugherty with seven and Grant Griffin and Evan Foreman with six each.

Against Ohatchee, Jake Christenberry rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown.

Andrew Schauer intercepted two passes, while Dalvin Lewis recovered a fumble.
