Westbrook Christian fell to Weaver, 41-28, on Friday in a Class 3A, Region 6 game at Weaver.

Westbrook (2-5, 2-3) dented the scoreboard first after a 2-yard run by quarterback Joseph Schauer on the Warriors’ second drive of the night. The Bearcats answered back in a big way, rattling off 27-unanswered points.

Just before the half, Schauer hit Chandler Richards for a 37-yard gain, setting up a 7-yard touchdown pass from Schauer to Chris Underwood that made the score 27-14 at halftime.

Westbrook cut its deficit to six points on its first possession of the second half after a 40-yard touchdown run by Dalvin Lewis.

But the Weaver defense later dropped Schauer in the end zone for a safety, and a touchdown pass on the Bearcats’ next drive pushed the Weaver lead to 35-21.

Lewis scored the Warriors’ final touchdown on a 9-yard run.

Westbrook resumes region play at home on Friday against Piedmont.
