Lady Cardinals fall in conference semifinals

The Gadsden State womens basketball team’s season came to an end in the Alabama Community College Conference Tournament semifinals on Friday (Mar. 6), as the Lady Cardinals fell to eventual state champion Lawson State, 63-54, at Faulkner State in Bay Minette.

Carla Clemmons led Gadsden State (25-6) with 12 points, while Brittany Washington added 10.

Kaelyn Irby had nine points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals, while D.J. Catlin chipped in eight points and five rebounds. 

Morgan Jones finished with six points and four rebounds. 

In the tournament quarterfinals on Mar. 5, Clemmons scored 18 points and Jones added 14 points and seven rebounds in Gadsden State’s 77-66 victory over Southern Union

Clemmons, who shot 82 percent (9-for-11) from the field, also had five rebounds.

Jaide Walker chipped in nine points, while Jordan Gray had seven.

Austin Richardson contributed five points, four rebounds and four assists, while Irby collected seven rebounds and six assists.

Clemmons made the all-tournament team.
