Gadsden State cagers earn postseason honors

Three Gadsden State basketball players received postseason recognition earlier this week.

For the Lady Cardinals, sophomore center Carla Clemmons and freshman guard Kaelyn Irby both made both the Alabama Community College Conference All-Region 22 and All-ACCC North Division first teams. 

Clemmons averaged 16.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.4 blocks, while Irby was good for 10.4 points, 6.4 assists and 2.3 steals per game.

The Lady Cardinals finished with a 25-6 record and made it to the conference tournament semifinals.

On the men’s side, sophomore guard Pat Edmonds was selected to both the Alabama Community Co-llege Conference All-Region 22 and All-ACCC North Division first teams. Edmonds averaged 14.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game while shooting 35.5 from the 3-point line and 75 percent from the foul line. 

In addition, men’s head coach Todd Ginn was named Coach of the Year along with Wallace-Hanceville’s John Meeks and Southern Union’s Ron Radford.

The Cardinals finished second in the conference tournament while posting a final record of 21-12.
