The Alabama Credit Union Association (ACUA), an affiliate of the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU), recently named Alabama House Minority Leader Craig Ford (D-Gadsden) as the 2015 ACUA Lawmaker of the Year. Local credit union officials presented Ford (pictured on right) with the award during the Alabama State Governmental Affairs Conference in Montgomery on April 5. “Rep. Ford has shown through his actions to understand credit union issues and how they affect their local members,” said LSCU president/CEO Patrick La Pine. “He co-sponsored legislation to help modernize the State Credit Union Act, which was sent to the governor’s desk this year. He also supports municipalities’ freedom of choice when it comes to public deposits. Rep. Ford knows first-hand how locally based credit unions help their members succeed.”
