Area athletes medal at Oxford meet

The Gadsden City girls finished third out of 17 teams at the King of the East track and field meet on April 16 at Oxford.
Emani Morgan won a pair of gold medals for the Lady Titans, one in the 100-meter dash and the other in the 200-meter dash. She was also a part of Gadsden City’s first-place 4×100 and 4×400-meter relay teams.
The GCHS boys placed sixth out of 18 teams, with Tanner Rice setting a PR along with a new school and course record of 9:37.27 in the 3200-meter run.
Other locals who took home gold medals were Gaston’s Kodie Bogle in the javelin and Ashville’s Greyson Simpson in the pole vault.
