Southside opened the Gulf Shores Classic on Monday, March 28 with an 8-7 loss to Kaneland (Ill.) and a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Mortimer Jordan. Against Kaneland, Hunter Johnson (pictured above) had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored, while Thomas Farley had a triple, an RBI and a run scored. Against Mortimer Jordan, Drew McBurnett went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
On March 29, Corbin Driskell pitched a three-hitter and Drew McBurnett homered and doubled in Southside’s 8-1 victory over St. Michael’s Catholic. In seven innings, Driskell struck out nine snd did not issue a walk. McBurnett went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored, Trey Frachiseur went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Kutter Johnson went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Four Glencoe pitchers combined for a no-hitter in the Yellow Jackets’ 1-0 victory in five innings over Moody last Tuesday (March 29). Rance Brown and Levi Lassiter each went two innings, while Aiden Johnson pitched one. Jaxon Hollis’ run in the fourth inning held up as the winning score.

Southside fell to Pell City, 8-2, on Martch 25. Trey Frachiseur had a hit and an RBI for the Panthers.

Sardis edged Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy, 4-3, on Saturday, March 26. For the Lions, Levi Martin went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and a run scored; Carson Gillilan went 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored; and Luke Weems went 2-for-2 with a double.

Coosa Christian lost to Ider, 6-5, on Friday, Martch 25. For the Conquerors, Brody Nelson went 2-for-4 with a double, Thomas Skaggs had a home run, two RBI and a run scored and John David Justus had a hit and two RBI.

Sardis defeated Westbrook Christian, 6-4, on March 25 in Rainbow City. For the Lions, Landon Carroll wen 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Russ Wiggs went 2-for-3 with a run scored. In six innings, winning pitcher Brody Samples allowed four hits, no earned runs and six walks while striking out nine. For the Warriors, Jackson Bryant and Eli Grace each went 2-for-3.

Helped by a solid pitching effort by Trey Frachiseur, Southside posted a 4-0 shutout over Pell City on March 24. In 6.2 innings, Frachiseur scattered four hits and struck out 10 while allowing no runs and two walks. At the plate for the Panthers, Dre’sen Champagne went 4-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored, while Kutter Johnson went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Glencoe edged Gaston, 15-13, on Thursday, March 24. For the Yellow Jackets, Cooper Gomez had a double, three RBI and a run scored; Jace White went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored; and Jaxon Hollis and Wilson Roberts each had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

Dylan Edwards’ score off an error in the top of the eighth inning gave Coosa Christian a 7-6 victory over West End on Thursday, March 24 in Walnut Grove. Edwards had two hits, including a double. Also for the Conquerors, Brody Nelson went 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored; Thomas Skaggs and Blaine West each went 2-for-4 th an RBI and a run scored; and John David Justus went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Isaiah Roberson and Tristan Chaney each scored two runs for the Patriots. Nelson notched the win on the mound, scattering two hits, one earned run and two walks while striking out eight.

Sardis pounded out 15 hits, including five for extra bases, in a 19-0 win in five innings over Crossville on Thursday, March 24 in Sardis City. For the Lions, Trey Thornton went 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored; Carson Gillilan went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored; Landon Carroll had a triple, two RBI and two runs scored; and Eli Morton went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Glencoe defeated Gaston, 8-4, in five innings on Thursday, March 24. Lee Crowder had a double, an RBI and a run scored for the Yellow Jackets. Wilson Roberts earned the win, allowing no earned runs and three walks while fanning eight.
