Several local players were nominated for the Alabama High School Athletic Association Prep Spotlight for the week of Sept. 16.

Hokes Bluff freshman running back Darrian Meads had 12 carries for 150 yards and two touchdowns as Hokes Bluff notched its first win of the year with a 41-0 win over White Plains.

Etowah junior running back Cory Thomas rushed for 145 yards and one touchdown and teammate Andy Noles caught seven passes for 90 yards and a touchdown in the Blue Devils’ 24-16 win over Alexandria.

West End senior running back Jordan Malin rushed 20 times for 115 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winning score, as the Patriots nipped Tarrant, 29-27.

Coosa Christian sophomore lineman Chase Burger blocked a punt that was returned 15 yards for a score by teammate Jackson Justus and returned a blocked punt by Emory Kitchens for 23 yards to set up the go-ahead touchdown in the Conquerors’ 21-7 win over Jacksonville Christian.
