Area runners compete at Scottsboro 5K

Several local high school runners turned in solid performances at the Black and Gold 5K on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Scottsboro.
Hokes Bluff’s Ethan Patterson (pictured above) won the Small School Division of 87 runners with a time of 17:15.57. For Southside, Evan Christopher’s time of 15:48.27 placed him third in the large school division of 309 runners.
Earning a medal on the girls’ side was Hokes Bluff’s Emma Godfrey, who came in third in the Small School Division of 53 runners with a time of 21:45.16. In addition, three West End runners finished in the top 16 – Karlee Tarpley in ninth place at 23:23.28, Jada Wright in 12th place at 23:54.01 and Carolina Rainey in 16th place at 24:58.60.
