Blue Devils, Titans win; Bulldogs fall short

Etowah earned its first win of the season on Sept. 8 with a 42-13 victory over Class 4A, Region 6 rival Ashville.
For the Blue Devils (1-2, 1-0), Corey Duncan finished with nine tackles and a sack.
Both teams continue region play this Friday (Sept. 15), with Etowah (1-2, 1-0) hosting Fultondale and Ashville (0-3, 0-1) traveling to Hanceville.

Gadsden City opened its Class 6A, Region 8 schedule with a 49-14 victory over Buckhorn on Sept. 8 in New Market.
For the Titans (2-1, 1-0), Luke Waldrop was 10 for 17 in passing for 230 yards and three touchdowns.
Gadsden City continues region play this Friday, Sept. 15 at home against Fort Payne.

Gaston opened Class 2A, Region 6 play on Sept. 8 with a 46-0 loss to Southeastern in Remlap. The Bulldogs (1-2, 0-1) have an open date this week before hosting region rival West End on Sept. 22.
