Cardinal athletes make All-Region softball teams

Gadsden State sophomore first baseman Allie Brassell recently was named to the Alabama Community College Conference All-North Division Softball First Team.

In 54 games this season, Brassell finished with team highs in batting average (.374) and hits (64) along with 30 RBI, 20 runs, 10 doubles and two home runs. 

She also was second on the team in fielding percentage at .982. 

Three Lady Cardinals made the Al-North Second Team – sophomore pitcher Brittany Bishop, sophomore third baseman Hannah McCreless and freshman shortstop Hope Hauser.

In 158.2 innings, Bishop finished with an earned run average of 2.56 with 58 strikeouts. 

McCreless batted .325 with 53 hits, five home runs, 26 RBI and 22 runs. 

Hauser posted a .372 batting average while contributing 48 hits, 34 RBI and 24 runs. 

In addition, Alabama Southern freshman outfielder and 2013 Sardis High graduate Krista Hubbard was selected to the All-South First Team, while Alabama Southern sophomore outfielder and 2013 Etowah High graduate Mary Cate Hereford made the second team.

Hubbard batted .359 with 37 hits, 30 runs, 11 RBI and 32 steals.

Hereford batted .348 with 55 hits, 29 RBI, 31 runs, 16 doubles and 31 steals.
