Cardinals go 3-1 at Panama Beach tournament

Gadsden State went 3-1 at the Gulf Coast Tournament in Panama City, Fla., on Sept. 6-7.

The Lady Cardinals (8-1) opened the tournament with a 25-17, 25-13, 25-18 victory over Hesston College, then posted wins over Pensacola Community College, 25-20, 14-25, 17-25, 25-23, 15-12, and Lake-Sumter State College, 25-16, 25-12, 25-17, before falling to Gulf Coast State College, 28-26, 25-23, 25-22, 25-15. 

For the tournament, Hannah Liverett and Devonna Taylor each had 31 kills, followed by

C.J. Payton with 24, Megan Butler with 21 and Amanda Young with 11. 

Megan Butler distributed 81 assists, while Amy Estes handed out 51. 

Megan Butler served up 10 aces, while Lauren Butler added five.

Lauren Butler came up with 38 digs, followed by Megan Butler with 31, Tanna Lawson with 26, Stora Gilliland with 20, Payton with 19, Young with 17 and Estes with 13.
