Fueled by an 88-point win over Cedar Bluff, Coosa Christian continued to wreak havoc on its Class 1A, Region 7 competition this past Friday.
The No. 8 Conquerors (3-5, 2-3) limited Appalachian to minus-9 yards in offense, including zero passing yards, and caused seven turnovers on the way to 51-0 victory on Oct. 20 in Oneonta.
Coosa cliched a postseason berth with the win and can secure the region’s third seed with a win over Woodville this Friday (Oct. 27).
The Conquerors intercepted four passes, two by Clete O’Bryant (pictured above at left), one which he returned 36 yards for a touchdown. He also had seven tackles and a sack on the night. Kylen Johnson and Dylan Edwards also had a pick.
Quarterback John David Justus (pictured above at right), finished with 140 combined yards and four touchdowns. He was 6-for-7 in passing for 118 yards and two TDs and rushed for 44 yards and two scores on four carries.
Joseph East paced Coosa on the ground with 87 yards on seven attempts. O’Bryant added 39 yards and a touchdown on six carries and caught two passes for 32 yards.
Grayson Malone and Eli Motes both had a pair of catches and a touchdown, the former for 61 yards and the latter for 25.
Jadan Burns was 5-for-5 on extra point attempts.
