Hokes Bluff hopes to end its season on a positive note, while Westbrook Christian wants to get tuned up for the playoffs.

After several near-misses at wins, the Eagles haven’t had as bad a season as the record indicates.

“We know that they’ve played some good teams close,” Warriors coach Tony Osborne said. “With a break or two, they could have a couple more wins. That tells us that they’re pretty good.”

Meanwhile, Westbrook is coming off a loss that hurt the playoff outlook. A win would’ve put the Warriors at home next week. But since they lost, a trip to Region 8 No. 2 seed Red Bay is in the plans for Nov. 9.

“We just couldn’t stop them at times,” Osborne said. “They converted four fourth-downs, if that tells you anything.”

With no shot at the playoffs, Hokes Bluff is playing for pride.

“We’re healthy and looking forward to this game,” Eagles coach Mike Robertson said. “I hope we can end the season on a good note. The kids are excited because they know some of the Westbrook kids. It should be a fun game.”

Last week against NSM, Jonathan Ford went 16-for-26 in passing for 221 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 37 rushing yards on eight carries.

For Hokes Bluff against Cherokee County, Brad Robertson completed 7-of-19 pass attempts for 133 yards and a touchdown. Chase Beggs ran for 111 yards and a TD on 18 carries.
